Who is @diet_prada [2017年12月27日(水)]
Who is @diet_prada? The copyright crusaders everyone in fashion is following on Instagram

Instagram account @diet_prada launched in December 2014 as a series of side-by-side comparisons calling out brands and designers for referencing (a little too heavily) other brands and designers. For almost three years, @diet_prada remained anonymous and relatively under the radar. By December 2016, the account had amassed just 1,000 followers. 12 months later and it boasts 179,000 followers—and counting—and the platform’s coveted verified blue tick. Naomi Campbell called them the “one and only encyclopedia [sic] of Fashion.”

“To us, Prada is an undisputed original in the industry, and probably our shared favourite designer,” the co-founders tell Vogue Australia of the handle’s name. “We’re also fans of a certain calorie-free soda, and after seeing so many Prada imitators season after season, they start to look like the calorie-free versions. The name just stuck from the first time we said it out loud.”

As anyone who works in fashion knows, copying is all too often passed off as ‘inspiration’. Usually, fast fashion companies are the culprit, ripping off designs directly from the runway. @diet_prada, however, targets designer designers—the kinds one would assume have more creative integrity than the high street. A quick scroll through @diet_prada’s feed reveals just how many well-known designers are blatantly drawing from their contemporaries, or as @diet_prada’s bio reads: “ppl knocking each other off lol”. It’s turned into a big undertaking for the duo who now spend a good deal of time running the account, reading comments on posts, and responding to tips from followers.

There are times when the co-founders will see a look and immediately be able to identify it as an imitation. “You’re like, ‘Oh Prada SS14!’ and go to the runway images and pull it up,” they tell Vogue. “Other times we might be like, ‘Is that old Galliano?’ And then you pore over influential shows that share commonalities like silhouette, colour, or print and the answer starts to reveal itself.”

The 14th Annual [2017年12月25日(月)]
The 14th Annual Children of Armenia Fund Gala Honoring Patricia Field Raises More Than $3 Million

Saturday nights in New York City during the holidays can be brutally busy between shopping and party season. And this past weekend, the Children of Armenia Fund hosted its 14th annual gala at Cipriani 42nd Street for a sold-out crowd. In the mix were designer Michael Aram with husband Aret Tikiryan, chef Geoffrey Zakarian, and master of ceremonies Andrea Martin. After musical performances from Armenian talents Ani Margaryan and Aleksandr Avetisyan, the evening kicked into high gear, celebrating the efforts that costume designer Patricia Field has done to champion the mission of COAF, which empowers youth through educational initiatives, and the organization’s founder and chairman, Dr. Garo Armen.

Also highlighted that evening was the new SMART Center, which will create a new epicenter of technology for the Lori region of Armenia and provide programming in arts, music, and sustainable agriculture. A live auction presided over by Simon de Pury and Haig Boyadjian saw treasures curated by art industry veteran Tony Shafrazi, including Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jacob & Co. timepiece and a Marilyn Minter piece, get snapped up by the chic crowd which included Alice Saraydarian and Janette Avanessians. And with a performance by Vanessa Williams, the evening raised a staggering $3.6 million, all going towards the innovative SMART Center for a brilliant start to 2018.

Jane Fonda’s Stylist Breaks [2017年12月22日(金)]
Jane Fonda’s Stylist Breaks Down Her Most Trailblazing Fashion Looks

If you ever needed proof that 80 is the new 20, just take a look at Jane Fonda.

With every year, the Oscar winner—who turns the big 8-0 Thursday—manages to up her fashion game. And according to her stylist, Tanya Gill, she won’t be retiring her rainbow brites or cutouts anytime soon.

“When I style Jane, her age isn’t even a part of the equation,” says Gill, who has dressed the actress since 2010. “She epitomizes the modern woman and nothing she wears ever really dates for that reason. It’s always more about what will suit her personality.”

Though she’s been walking red carpets for over five decades, Gill says that Fonda is still always willing to try something new in their fittings. “She has such great instincts,” says Gill. “Her choices reflect her boldness. That’s why she likes to embrace so many different colors and styles—it’s a way to show who she is.”

Fonda made major fashion waves this year alone, literally stealing the show at L’Oreal’s fashion presentation in Paris this fall by walking the runway in a sexy, suede tiger-print Balmain gown—and pulling it off better than most 20-somethings we know.

“Oh, Jane loved that dress,” recalls Gill. “We got it sent over in a sample size and it fit her perfectly, like boom. We just zipped her up in the back and she put on some boots to go with it. Honestly, that was it!”

And it’s that effortless spirit that has made the star’s style so iconic. From her smoldering Balmain emerald green jumpsuit at the 2015 Grammys to her Barbie pink Brandon Maxwell column at the 2017 Emmys, Fonda leaves no fashion stone unturned. “She’s a trailblazer in many aspects of her life,” adds Gill. “So it kind of figures that she also pushes boundaries of the red carpet.”

Happy 80th Birthday, Jane! Keep scrolling to see her best looks of all-time, and get inspired by one of the best trailblazers in the business.

This Instagram Fashion [2017年12月20日(水)]
This Instagram Fashion Brand Was Googled More Than The World's Top Designers In 2017

You probably can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing a photo of one of your favorite celebrities wearing an outfit from Fashion Nova, or seeing an ad from the affordable fashion brand. And apparently their constant presence on your Instagram feed has translated into mega-success for the women’s clothing line!

Google recently released its Year In Search 2017 data and highlighted the top ten most Google-searched brands in 2017. While Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Supreme topped the list, Fashion Nova was the fourth most searched fashion brand in the United States. And quite frankly, they were the only affordable label that made the list and beat out other luxury designers like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Dolce & Gabbana. So how did an Instagram-popular, low-priced fashion brand like Fashion Nova make the list? It’s most likely due to the star power of some of its biggest fans. Celebrities like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose and Blac Chyna have all promoted the brand on their own Instagram feeds, and just recently, Toya Wright and Tammy Rivera were spotted in the same exact dress from Fashion Nova. Additionally with majority of everything on the site priced at under $100, who wouldn’t be tempted to shop or browse the site?!

In fashion news today [2017年12月18日(月)]
In fashion news today: Vetements is moving to men’s fashion week, the Fanning sisters get festive

It’s a family affair for Miu Miu’s latest campaign, which stars none other than two Fannings, Elle and Dakota, plus a slew of other Hollywood favourites in a festive-themed video. Called Whispers, the campaign also stars Julia Garner, Chloë Sevigny and Sadie Sink, evoking the feelings of going home for the holidays — and the whispers that go with it. Watch the video here, and wish your Christmas will be as chic as this one. Vetements has once again proved it loves to shake things up, revealing it will present its next co-ed show during men’s fashion week in Paris. Previously the brand has presented at the city’s haute couture week, but will move to January come 2018 for what will no doubt be (as usual) a memorable and highly sought after collection.

Everybody’s favourite Australian model, Jennifer Hawkins, has partnered with the equally as loved Salvation Army, for a tote bag collaboration perfect for gifting while giving back this Christmas. Available in two colours and perfect for all your gift-carrying come Christmas Day, and beach wares later in the summer, the totes are available online and in selected Salvos stores — with, of course, all the proceeds going to The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.

Remembering the Fashion Figures We Lost in 2017 [2017年12月14日(木)]
Remembering the Fashion Figures We Lost in 2017

It’s been a roller coaster kind of year that included the loss of many creative people. Diminishing the fashion industry on the design side were the deaths of Azzedine Alaïa, Benjamin Cho, Emmanuelle Khanh, Hervé Léger, and Kenneth Jay Lane. The model known as Bimba Bosé lost her battle with breast cancer. Paris will never be quite the same without Pierre Bergé, who, with his partner, Yves Saint Laurent, forged a modern template for success in fashion by embracing prêt-à-porter and licensing, both while maintaining the tradition and excellence of haute couture. With the death of Condé Nast publisher Samuel “Si” Newhouse, Jr., an important chapter in publishing has sadly come to a close.

With her strong features, tattoos, and buzz-cut hair, Bosé demonstrated that a raw, androgynous look could be as glamorous as that of a bombshell. The unconventional Spanish model was a runway regular in the 2000s and a face of Tom Ford’s sizzling ad campaigns for Gucci.

HOW DECONSTRUCTING FASHION IS A RADICAL QUEER ACT [2017年12月12日(火)]
HOW DECONSTRUCTING FASHION IS A RADICAL QUEER ACT

Photographer Emily Lipson joined forces with designer/stylist Joe van Overbeek to examine the ways deconstructed fashion mirrors how queers are reshaping society today. By definition, the word "deconstruct" suggests stripping away at standards to unearth hidden truths — an act that's equally radical on the runway as it is on the streets, where the LGBTQ+ community has put forth a focused effort to redefine what's normal.

"In an era of fashion defined by alternative beauty sensibilities, deconstructed clothing finds a new relevancy inside the emerging queer narrative," Lipson and van Overbeek said. "The way these clothes reject the convention of construction, they make the suggestion that untraditional clothes are best suited to an untraditional body. This implication makes the clothes themselves inherently queer, as the form reject the guidelines of the body to such a degree, gender can hardly be considered."

Check out the duo's photo project, below, which highlights the work of rising Chicago-based designers and investigates how seven different models use personal style to deconstruct social norms.

Tommy Hilfiger [2017年12月07日(木)]
Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid's final runway show will be in Milan

After a number of successful seasons together, Gigi Hadid is lending her eye to yet another Tommy x Gigi collaboration, only this time the runway will be held in Milan.

For the fourth Tommy x Gigi collection, the model and designer will head to Italy’s fashion capital, Milan, for what will be Hadid’s final Tommy show.

Hosting the spring 2018 TommyNow runway, the show will include Hadid’s collection alongside men’s and women’s ready-to-wear from Hilfiger Collection — a bumper all things Tommy celebration.

Everything that goes down the runway will be available to buy straight after the show, going off the brand’s new see-now-buy-now model.

As was the case with Tommy x Gigi’s previous presentations, the show is set to be an experience in itself — if their recent circus-themed show in London, and ‘Tommy Pier’ show in New York are anything go by.

“My vision for TommyNow was to create a global platform that we could take on tour to bring our show experience to new audiences around the world,” said Tommy Hilfiger in a statement. “It’s about the fusion of fashion, entertainment and pop culture with experiences, performances and inspiring interactions that are designed around our consumers. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, Milan is the perfect place to celebrate our next TommyNow show.”

The show is set to be held on February 25 in Milan.

This Full-Body Scarf [2017年12月05日(火)]
This Full-Body Scarf Is the Fashion World's Answer to the Snuggie

Have you ever found yourself torn between bundling up with a wool scarf or stepping out in a cozy sweaterdress? Well, fret no more, you can now have it both ways.

Bulgarian brand Dukyana has done the unthinkable, creating a scarf that’s actually a dress—or is it a dress that’s actually a scarf?

For $280, you can beat the winter chill by draping an eight-foot-long “chunky mohair tube scarf” from shoulder to ankle—and by drape, we mean crawl inside.

You see, the garment is truly tubular (no '80s superlative intended). It’s a knit cylindrical scarf that encapsulates your body in mohair goodness. Though you may be inclined to call it a dress, note that there are no arm holes.

Is this the office blanket upgrade we’ve been dreaming of? Perhaps.

The only downside (except for, you know, the arm holes) is that’s it’s not immediately available. According to Dukayana’s website, the item will ship 10 to 14 days after your purchase is processed—Christmas shoppers, beware!

Ridiculous, or ridiculously amazing? You be the judge.

The fashion [2017年12月01日(金)]
The fashion industry can only go green by becoming unfashionable

Green is the new black, if efforts to acknowledge the environmental harm caused by the fashion industry are to be believed.

A report released yesterday by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation highlighted the damage done by our efforts to look absolutely fabulous, and they make for grim reading. The clothes industry uses a huge amount of resources to create its wares, it says, including 93 billion cubic metres of water per year for growing cotton and the like.

It also creates a vast amount of pollution, from the hazardous chemicals used during processing and dyeing, to the plastic microfibres that enter the oceans when we wash our clothes, to 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide or equivalent per year from producing fibres and turning them into clothes.

The source of some of the numbers in the report isn’t clear, but
